As an educator, I am passionate about making a difference. I’ve authored two educational books in Venezuela, directed an instructional video on better parenting, and written extensively for Latino newspapers and magazines in the Twin Cities.
I’m committed to creating educational opportunities for diverse communities, and I invite you to explore my work here.
My dedication to the community has been recognized with the 25 On the Rise Award in 2008 and the Visionary Leadership Award from the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits in 2016.
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, I relocated to Minnesota in 2003. I hold two master’s degrees: a Master of Science in Mass Communication with a focus on social development from Andres Bello Catholic University in Venezuela (graduating with honors in 2001) and a Master of Arts in Education from Hamline University in Minnesota, which I earned in 2005 after receiving a prestigious scholarship from the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, D.C.
In 2022, I wrote a bilingual mindfulness book titled The Boy and the Blue Heron, a story that helps children explore emotions through the senses. Inspired by the yearly appearance of a blue heron at Blackhawk Lake in Minnesota, this beautifully illustrated book captures the bond between a boy and the blue heron as they journey through an autumn landscape. My second book, The Blue Heron and the Story of Rainbow Lake in Minnesota, is nearly complete. This fictional tale, inspired by the lakes of Minnesota, teaches children about the importance of protecting the environment as a group of woodland animals work together to save Rainbow Lake from pollution.
(Coming this spring 2025)
This book is a mindfulness story for kids, exploring emotions through the senses. This story is in both languages, to enrich the vocabulary of children in the Spanish language.
